Slow Living In England | Antique Treasures, Country Walks & Cosy Dinner 🌿
Step into another quiet week of slow living in England 🌿 This week, after days of rain and unexpected summer storms, I spend a quiet day at home while reflecting on a recent walk through the beautiful Hampshire town of Whitchurch and the nearby hamlet of Freefolk, surrounded by the beauty of the English countryside. Along the way, we discover hidden corners, thatched cottages, riverside views, a charming antiques shop, and little pieces of local history that make these places so special. Back at home, I make a natural orange and sage cleaner, gather rose petals from the garden, reflect on the approaching summer solstice, and prepare a simple seasonal supper. On the menu is a jacket potato topped with a homemade spinach and basil pesto — a delicious blend of English comfort food and Italian flavours, perfect for a summer evening. As always, this vlog is about finding joy in ordinary moments, embracing a slower pace of life, and appreciating the beauty that can be found in both everyday routines and countryside walks. Thank you for joining me for another week of slow living, seasonal cooking and everyday life in England. 🌿 🌿 In this video: • A peaceful day of slow living in England • Exploring Whitchurch and Freefolk, Hampshire • Hidden corners, riverside walks and local history • A charming antiques shop and countryside views • Caring for the garden after days of rain • Summer solstice reflections and Spanish traditions • Making a natural orange and sage household cleaner • Drying rose petals for tea and potpourri • Homemade spinach and basil pesto • Baked potato with a fresh summer twist • Slow living routines and simple seasonal pleasures • Family moments and everyday life in England 🥔 Spinach & Basil Pesto Baked Potato Ingredients 1 large baking potato per person 1½–2 cups spinach ¾ cup fresh basil ½ cup pine nuts 4 garlic cloves ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (or Pecorino, vegan Parmesan, or mature Cheddar) Juice of ½ small lemon Freshly ground black pepper Fresh tomatoes, to serve Extra cheese for topping 🍊 Orange & Sage Household Cleaner Ingredients Peel of 4 well-washed oranges A handful of fresh sage (Salvia officinalis) Distilled white vinegar 2-litre Mason jar or large glass jar Method Place the orange peel and sage in a large jar.
