From Phenomenal 2026 to Patient 2026. Part 1: The Injury

Directed by: Treston Mayo “When are you opening your season?” It’s a question I’ve been asked countless times this year. What I thought was going to be a Phenomenal 2026 quickly became a Patient 2026. On March 24th, just one week before my season opener, I suffered an injury. At first, we didn’t realize the full extent of it. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and it became clear that this recovery journey would be much longer and slower than any of us anticipated. One of the hardest parts of this process was coming to terms with the reality that I wouldn’t compete this season. For an athlete, that’s a difficult conversation to have with yourself. But this story is bigger than an injury. Over the past few months, I’ve documented every phase of the journey—the injury, the mental battles, the setbacks, the lessons, the healing, and ultimately, the comeback. This is the first glimpse into that story. My recovery journey will be shared through a 4-part documentary series on my YouTube channel.
