Petition for Presence Let us feel that God is with me at this very moment. Let us dwell in the presence of God around and within me, and reflect for a moment. The Creator of the universe is present in the sun and moon, the earth, every molecule and atom, and in everything that exists. God is present in every beat of my heart and is with me at this very moment. Petition for Freedom Let us ask the Lord for the grace to be free from our own desires. Saint Ignatius said, “A thick, formless tree will never believe that it can become a statue worthy of being praised as a ‘miracle of sculpture.’ And it will never entrust itself to the chisel of the sculptor who, through his genius, sees through what can be made of wood.” Let us ask for the grace to surrender ourselves so that we may be shaped by the Creator who is love. Awareness Let us be conscious of the traces where the Lord was with us in the places of my life. Knowing that God loves me unconditionally, I honestly reflect on the events of yesterday and my emotions. Was there anything for which you have something to be thankful? If so, let us give thanks. Was there anything for which you have something to apologize for? If so, let us ask for forgiveness. Gospel June 11, 2026 Memorial of St. Barnabas the Apostle (Matthew 10:7-13) Key Points of Meditation “Freely you have received, freely give.” This is the call of Jesus received by the apostles. It means that we must accept everything we have received with a grateful heart and be able to give it freely. This enables us to realize that we are all recipients of God’s mercy and to look upon those sent to us with reverence and gratitude. Therefore, it purifies us from the desire to boast of ourselves, such as any self-righteousness within our hearts. As we listen to the words Jesus gives to the disciples He is about to send out, we pray that these words of Jesus may help us mature into better disciples. Almost all of Jesus' words contain meaning regarding the ultimate consequences for those who accept them and those who reject them, along with His own noble being. I pray for the conversion of those whose hearts are closed to the good news Jesus proclaims, and for a deeper conversion of my own heart. Let us meditate for a moment. Discourse Let us have a conversation with Jesus about the Bible passage we just read. What part moves your heart? Perhaps a conversation you had with a friend or a story you heard recently comes to mind. If so, what clues does that story give you in understanding the meaning the Bible passage is trying to convey?
