Chinese studies at Cambridge - Interview (Part 4) with Prof. T.H. Barrett

This is the fourth part of my interview with Prof. T. H. Barrett, former Professor of Chinese Religions at SOAS. This time he talks about how, after obtaining a PhD from Yale, he started teaching at Cambridge and then also at SOAS. He tells us why having a PhD did not really matter in the old days, and why he gave up a teaching position at Cambridge to go to SOAS. He also relates a number of interesting anecdotes about his colleagues at SOAS. Finally, he talks about the University Library at Cambridge.
