Chinese Studies in Cambridge and Britain - Prof. T. H. Barrett

This is a conversation with Prof. Tim Barrett (aka T. H. Barrett), Professor of Chinese Religions at SOAS. He is the author of influential books such as The Woman Who Discovered Printing and Taoism Under the Tang. We talk about his current research on the background of British sinology and the religious, historical and political reasons that shaped the development of the field in the UK. Particularly interesting are his comments and insights about the history of sinology and Chinese studies at Cambridge University, where he has once studied himself.
