Join me for a calm early morning walk through the village of Duntisbourne Leer in the Cotswolds, England. Filmed at the start of the day, this walk captures quiet lanes, open countryside and the gentle rhythm of a english village morning as things slowly begin to move. With no talking or music, this walk focuses on natural sounds, birds in the hedgerows, the soft movement of water and the stillness that sits over the countryside early in the day. Duntisbourne Leer is a small village in Gloucestershire, set within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The name “Duntisbourne” comes from Old English, meaning a stream or “bourne” running through the valley, which remains a defining feature of the area today. The village has medieval origins and was historically connected to monastic ownership, with “Leer” believed to refer to a clearing or open land. Like neighbouring villages in the valley, it developed around farming and sheep grazing, contributing to the wider Cotswold wool trade. At the heart of the village stands the church of St Andrew, with parts dating back to the Norman period. Traditional Cotswold stone cottages line the quiet lanes, many of which have changed very little over time.
