The Village Lost in the Fog | A Cotswold Early Morning Walk

Join me for a quiet walk through the village of Middle Chedworth in Gloucestershire on a foggy morning in the Cotswolds. Thick fog rolls through the valley, softening the landscape and slowly hiding the cottages, lanes and surrounding countryside. At times, the village almost disappears into the mist, creating a calm and atmospheric morning walk. Middle Chedworth is a small village in Gloucestershire, set within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village lies in a quiet valley not far from Northleach and the River Coln. The name Chedworth is believed to come from Old English and is connected to early Saxon settlement in the area. Archaeological evidence shows that the valley has been inhabited for thousands of years, including the nearby Chedworth Roman Villa, one of the largest and best-preserved Roman villas in Britain. Like many villages in the Cotswolds, Middle Chedworth developed around agriculture and sheep farming, which played a major role in the region’s historic wool trade. The cottages and buildings are built from traditional Cotswold stone and sit along narrow lanes that have changed very little over the centuries.
