This time we had a delicious family lunch at the pub at British Hills. British Hills is situated in the mountains of Fukushima, and is a very authentic “Britain you can visit without a passport”. British Hills is both a place to study English and a hotel, so anyone is welcome. English is the official language, but many staff speak Japanese as well. We held our wedding at British Hills 6 years ago, which later lead to Mama working there. British Hills is a special place for us, so we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with lunch there. We gave Lily a small task while we were there, which she managed easily (though Mama should have said a “small spoon”). In Japanese, the word “pub” sounds like a place for alcohol or other less savoury activities, but actually the original meaning is different.
