Vridh Ashrams Not The Solution | When Parents Grow Old, Society Must Stand With Them | HSF Pension

In the Rohini camp in Delhi, many elderly men and women are living the last stage of their lives with very little financial support. Today, they sit with the Hindu Samman Foundation team and share their emotional stories — stories of sacrifice, struggle, and dignity. These parents once worked their entire lives for their families. They sacrificed their health, their youth, and their resources to raise their children and build homes. But today, many of them are left without financial security. HSF believes that Vridh Ashrams (old age homes) should not become the normal solution for our society. In Sanatani culture, caring for our parents is not charity — it is dharma. When parents grow old, it is the responsibility of children, families, and society to ensure that they live with dignity, respect, and emotional support. Unfortunately, many Hindu refugee families living in camps across India do not have access to proper social welfare schemes, pensions, or government benefits. For many widows and elderly people here, HSF’s private pension support has become the only financial assistance available to them. Hindu Samman Foundation has already written letters to the Delhi Government and the Prime Minister’s Office, requesting the creation of a comprehensive policy framework so that displaced Hindu refugee families — especially widows and elderly citizens — can receive proper welfare benefits, documentation support, and pension security. Until such policies are implemented, HSF continues to stand with these elders through community support and humanitarian assistance. These parents are not alone. They are part of our society.
