DIY - dual Vacuum and Pressure Pot (for RESIN and WOOD STABILISING)
In this video, I'm making a cost effective DUAL Vacuum and Pressure pot. Most builds I've seen are one or the other, but if you're like me and have both limited space and limited budget, this project is the perfect way to save on both. CORRECTION to one aspect of this video. In the video I said that the pressure chamber slowly looses a little pressure over night. But after adding 4 loops of teflon tape and tightening the lid very very tightly, it doesn't loose any pressure at all. None, not even after 24 hours (slow set resin)! It's really very easy. Why do you need a vacuum chamber and pressure pot? Craft knives need interesting handles. Casting resin and stabilising wood is a great way to add interest to your knives. But these processes need expensive equipment, namely a vacuum chamber and a pressure pot. The pressure pot is needed to cast resin without bubbles. The vacuum chamber is used to stabilise wood, by extracting the air from the wood while it soaks in a watery resin such as Cactus Juice. The vacuum pump I bought was this one: https://www.vidaxl.com.au/e/871847592... What I needed: FOR BOTH 1 x PVC Pipe - 100mm diameter (2.5mm wall thickness) 1 x End cap - glue on 1 x Threaded end to accept threaded cap - glue on 1 x Threaded cap with rubber gasket Plumbers Teflon tape rolls PRESSURE POT SPECIFIC 1 x pressure gauge 1 x car tyre pressure valve 1 x Electric tyre pump or manual bicycle pump VACUUM CHAMBER SPECIFIC 1 x 10mm thick perspex sheet - small 1 x Vacuum pressure guage 1 x male - female elbow joint 1 x male - male threaded connector 1 x female - female ball valve 1 x male barbed hose connector 1 x 2m length standard garden hose 1 x small hose clamp 1 x PVC Pipe - 90mm diameter to fit inside 100mm chamber 1 x Vacuum pump Enjoy!
