DSFP Session 24: Introduction to CCDs

The LSST Discovery Alliance Data Science Fellowship Program is an innovative training program for Astronomy graduate students to prepare them for data intensive science with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time. In this lecture, Dr. Alex Drlica-Wagner, Scientist in the Astrophysics Department at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and Associate Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago, introduces the physics of Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs). This lecture was part of Session 24: Image Processing for Wide Field Astronomical Surveys hosted by the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Accompanying Python/Jupyter notebooks for this and subsequent sessions are available here: https://github.com/LSSTC-DSFP/ More information about the LSST Discovery Alliance DSFP can be found here: https://lsstdiscoveryalliance.org/pro...
