Wood cook stove maintenance and Mother nature's applesauce receipt.
If you own or are thinking of owning an old wood cook stove, Here are some tips on how to check and clean your stove. The wood you burn in your stove will make a big difference as to how soon you will have to check and clean the sections of the oven and chimney. Pine, fir and cedars all have pitch and will build up soot much faster in the inner workings of the stove. Hard woods like alder, maple and oak for a few example are cleaner burning wood for sure, But do not let that fool you into not checking for soot problems. Mother Nature gave me an abundance of apples this year. So it is time to stock up and can her bounty.
