God caused a wind to blow over the earth, and the waters subsided. 2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were closed, and the rain ceased from heaven. 3 The waters receded from the earth, receding ever more, and after one hundred and fifty days they had subsided. 4 In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of that month, the ark rested on Mount Ararat. 5 And the waters had subsided ever more, and in the tenth month, on the first day of that month, the peaks of the mountains were seen. 6 After forty days, Noah opened the window of the ark, 7 and sent out a raven, and the raven flew until the waters had dried up from the earth. And he went back and forth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the waters had receded from the earth. 9 But the waters were all over the earth, so the dove could not find a place to set its foot. It came back to him in the ark, and he reached out his hand and received it into the ark. 10 Then he waited seven days and sent out the dove again from the ark. 11 And at evening the dove returned to him, with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. 12 Then he waited seven days and sent out the dove again, but it did not return to him again.
