After the flood, they had sons. 2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 The sons of Javan were Elisha, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 From these were the nations, divided into peoples, each according to his language, tribe, and country, and settled in the land by the sea. 6 The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 7 The sons of Cush were Zeba, Havilah, Sabtah, and Raamah and Sabteca; the sons of Raamah were Zeba and Dedan. 8 Cush also begat Nimrod, who was the first mighty man on earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 His kingdom began in the land of Shinar at Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh. 11 From that land he went out to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; this is a great city. 13 Mizraim begat Ludim, Anamim, Rehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim, and Caphtorim. (From Casluhim came the Philistines.) 15 Canaan begat Sidon, the firstborn, and Heth. 16 And the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17 the Hivites, and the Argaites He begat the tribe of Sin, 18 the tribe of Arvad, the tribe of Zemar, and the tribe of Hamath. After this, the tribes of the Canaanites went forth and scattered. 19 The boundaries of Canaan extended from Sidon through Gerar to Gaza, and from Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim to Lasha. 20 These were the descendants of Ham, each according to his tribe, language, region, and country. 21 Shem was the father of all the descendants of Eber, and the brother of Japheth. Children were born to him as well. 22 The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. 23 The sons of Aram were Uz, Hur, Gether, and Mash. 24 Arphaxad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber. 25 Eber begat two sons, and named one Peleg, for in those days the earth was divided. The name of Peleg's brother was Joktan. 26 Joktan Almodad, Seleph, Hazarmaweth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Tigla, 28 Obal, Abimael, Zeba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; these were all sons of Joktan. 30 Their dwelling place was the eastern mountains of the road from Mesha to Zebal. 31 These were the descendants of Shem, according to their tribes, languages, regions, and nations. 32 These were the tribes of the descendants of Noah according to the genealogy of the people, and from them after the flood the peoples of the land were divided.
