I flew to Sweden, to Gothenburg, the city of Volvo, to see the new Volvo Trucks and check what the manufacturer is preparing for the transport industry. In the first episode, I get behind the wheel of an electric Volvo and, together with an instructor, I check how this kind of truck combination drives, how Pilot Assist works, how automatic speed limits function, how energy recovery works, and what it is like to use cameras instead of traditional mirrors. I already know electric trucks from previous tests, but what surprised me here the most was the announced range of up to 700 km and faster charging. This might be the moment when an electric truck in transport stops being just a curiosity. Are professional drivers ready for this? That is the big question.
