‘GFP: Lighting Up Life’ lecture by Martin Chalfie, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008
Martin Chalfie shares his journey towards receiving the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein (GFP). He describes his experience of a life in research, sharing the myths about scientists which he has found to be untrue. The lecture was delivered at McGill University, Montreal, as part of the Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative. The Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative (NPII) is a global programme designed to help Nobel Laureates share their inspirational stories and insights. By taking Nobel Laureates on visits to universities and research centres around the world, and by capturing their thoughts on video, the Initiative seeks to bring the Laureates into closer contact with the worldwide scientific community, and especially with an audience of young scientists. NPII Canada was delivered in partnership with AstraZeneca. For more information please visit: www.nobelprize.org/npii
