Italo Disco: Escapism in the 80's (Italo Disco lecture)

The full recording of my lecture 'Italo Disco: Escapism in the 80's', where I try to explain why Italo Disco sounds and looks the way it does. The genre played a big role in the 'riflusso nel privato' (or anni di riflusso), the Italian retreat into private life starting in the late 1970's, where nightlife, fashion and anything apolitical took centre stage. This followed the horrible ‘anni di piombo’ (or years of lead) in Italy. This recording took place during Radio Tornado's Friday Night Live, at De Kunsthal in Rotterdam.
