According to him, viruses can be considered living: they reproduce, change, and evolve. "In the natural sciences, absolutely precise definitions and clear boundaries between objects are almost never encountered," Nikitin noted. The scientist also explained how life could have emerged: according to one of the leading hypotheses, it all began with the world of RNA—molecules that, even before the emergence of cells, could store information and replicate themselves. Nikitin also discussed the price humans paid for evolution: upright walking led to back problems and difficult childbirth, while high intelligence may be associated with greater anxiety, the risk of depression, and inflammatory processes.
