Words of Hope #9 Will Israel Recognise the True Shepherd Before It’s Too Late? | Zechariah 11–12

🙏 🔴 SUBSCRIBE NOW for more biblical truth and Christ-centred teaching. Will Israel recognise the True Shepherd—or follow the voice of a false one? In this powerful and sobering study of the Book of Zechariah, chapters 11 and 12, we uncover one of the most profound prophetic warnings in Scripture. These chapters reveal a tragic pattern: the rejection of the Good Shepherd, the rise of false leadership, and the ultimate consequences of turning away from God. The prophet paints a vivid picture of two shepherds—one who truly cares for the flock, and another who devours it. This contrast points us directly to Jesus Christ, who declared in the Gospel of John 10, “I am the Good Shepherd.” Yet history shows us that Israel rejected Him, choosing instead earthly power, echoing the chilling words: “We have no king but Caesar.” But this is not only history—it is prophecy. Zechariah reveals that after rejecting the true Shepherd, the people will one day embrace a false one. This “worthless shepherd” foreshadows the coming Antichrist, described in the Book of Revelation 13. A leader who will promise peace, yet bring destruction. A ruler who will deceive many, because they did not first receive the truth. And yet, God’s story does not end in judgment. In Zechariah 12, we see a turning point. A future day—repeated again and again as “in that day”—when God intervenes. The nations will gather against Jerusalem, but they will not prevail. This moment connects directly to the final events described in the Book of Revelation 16 and 19, where the armies of the world assemble, only to be defeated by the returning King of Kings. Then comes one of the most moving prophecies in all Scripture: “They will look on Me whom they have pierced.” In that moment, the veil is lifted. The partial hardening described in Epistle to the Romans 9–11 is removed, and a nation mourns—not in despair, but in repentance. They finally recognise their Messiah. This study reminds us that salvation has always been the same—by faith in the Messiah. Before the cross, believers looked forward in hope. After the cross, we look back in faith. But the center of all history remains the same: Christ Himself. So the question is not only for Israel—it is for us. Do we truly know the Shepherd… or are we at risk of following another voice? Because the only way to avoid deception is not merely to know about Christ—but to truly know Him. 📖 Dive deep into prophecy, covenant, and the unfolding plan of God in this two-part teaching from Desiring Truth. #Zechariah #EndTimes #BibleStudy #JesusIsLord #christianteaching 00:00 Introduction – The Shepherd Question 01:10 Context of Book of Zechariah 11–12 03:25 The Flock Doomed to Slaughter 06:40 The Two Shepherds Explained 10:15 The Rejection of the True Shepherd 14:30 “We Have No King But Caesar” – A Turning Point 18:20 The Worthless Shepherd Prophecy 22:45 Roman Rule and Spiritual Blindness 27:10 The Conditional vs Unconditional Covenants 31:40 Breaking the Staff: Favor and Union 36:10 Division Within Israel (Belief vs Unbelief) 40:30 The Rise of False Leadership (Antichrist Foreshadow) 45:20 Many Antichrists vs The Antichrist 49:10 Knowing the True Shepherd Personally 52:00 Transition to Zechariah 12 – “In That Day” 55:30 Jerusalem: Cup of Reeling & Heavy Stone 59:20 All Nations Gather Against Jerusalem 1:03:10 Armageddon: Campaign, Not Just a Battle 1:07:40 God Defends His People 1:11:00 Strength Given to the Weak 1:14:30 The Spirit of Grace Poured Out 1:18:10 “They Will Look on Me Whom They Pierced” 1:21:40 National Mourning and Repentance 1:25:10 The End of Israel’s Hardening 1:28:30 Salvation Has Always Been Through Messiah 1:32:00 The Return of Christ – King of Kings 1:35:30 Final Warning: Which Shepherd Are You Following?
