PAINT WITH ME || Impressionist Portrait Study in Oil

I tried to keep my brushstrokes loose in this study - I'm constantly finding myself reaching for my tiniest detail brush to make things look perfect, but I find it much more exciting when you can see the brushstrokes and the happy accidents that make the painting so much more interesting. You'd think realism would be harder than impressionism, but I find impressionism much more difficult - you need to know when to stop, have control of your strokes and plan out your colors, all while still keeping the correct proportions and lighting. Still learning, still having fun with it :) Looking forward to doing more studies like this in the future! I kept this video somewhat longer than usual so you can paint your own quick little study along with me! Chill out and make some cool art while we're all stuck at home :) Materials used: Canvas Pad Gamsol (Mineral Spirits) Galkyd Medium Gamblin oil paint - Ivory Black, Titanium White, Cerulean blue, Radiant Turquoise (for the background), Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ochre Frog Tape Find prints and originals of my artwork at: http://www.dannikarose.com/ INSTAGRAM:   / dannikarosull   FACEBOOK:   / dannikarosesullivanart   BUY ME A COFFEE? https://www.ko-fi.com/dannikarose Music: Melancholy - Ooy Eight Hours - Issue AB Mindset - Issue AB Come Out Now - Issue AB Night Night - Guustavv Sandy Water - Homebody
