Is the 2.7 Turbo Max Strong Enough? 2026 Silverado Towing Reality Check

Mr and Mrs Truck review the 2026 Silverado RST 1500 trailering a 26 ft Forest River toy hauler. Weighs approximately 6000 lbs. yes it's a bill board, 8.5 ft wide 32 ft. longer with tongue. About 11 ft. tall, wind is a problem especially side wind. Now that wind happens in Colorado every week, we wonder if a 4-cylinder turbo engine is up to the task. Turbo max gas engine has 310 horsepower and 430 torque. That's good torque, matched to a 8-speed automatic transmission. Tow haul mode and trailer brake controller with factory receiver hitch and 3.42 rear axle ratio. This Silverado is rated to tow 9000 lbs. with a bumper pull trailer. The receiver hitch on the Silverado had mis-aligned pin hole. Off by a 1/2 in. which would not let us add our Weight Distribution Hitch. We used just a simple 2 5/16 in ball with no sway control. Without a trailer the RST average 20 mpg. Of course with a trailer 10 mpg. The Silverado RST 1500 is well equipped features, has a sporty look with 20 in wheels. 6 seats and not a basic work truck. All this and only $54,005. Reasonable for a crew cab 4x4.
