Los cinco tipos de hambre y cómo debemos enfrentarnos a ellos | EL COMIDISTA
We all know what it's like to be hungry, but perhaps we don't understand the mechanisms that trigger it in our brains and the rest of our bodies. Your Brain Is Hungry fills that void: in this book, pharmacist and nutritionist Marián García (Boticaria García on social media) analyzes the complex reasons that drive the desire to eat. With scientific knowledge and an accessible and humorous style, García explores how the brain, muscles, hormones, and emotions are involved in managing appetite and fat accumulation. She also helps us understand the relationship between mind and body in the fight against excess weight beyond a simple lack of willpower or the well-known recommendations from brothers-in-law/gym buddies to lose weight (you know: shut up and eat less, exercise, etc.). The nutritionist discusses the five types of hunger that affect humans. The first is physiological hunger or "hunger-hunger," which occurs when the body needs energy and nutrients. Another type is emotional hunger, triggered by factors such as stress, anxiety, or boredom. Ambient hunger is triggered by external stimuli such as smells or the sight of appetizing foods, which trigger the desire to eat even when we're full. Hormonal hunger is caused by the dysregulation of hormones such as leptin and ghrelin, which control satiety and appetite, while "Dragon Khan" hunger is related to fluctuations in blood glucose levels. What mechanisms control these types of hunger? How should we respond to them? Marián García herself explains in the video above.
