How Frida Kahlo Shaped Art and Culture – Inside the MFAH Exhibit
Frida Kahlo is undoubtedly one of the most influential artists of all time. While relatively unknown in her own time like many great artists, her work is now recognized and celebrated worldwide with her name achieving universal icon status. The life and legacy of this legendary Mexican artist are explored in the new Museum of Fine Arts, Houston exhibit “Frida: The Making of An Icon” which features more than 30 of Kahlo’s works in addition to over 100 works from five generations of artists inspired by her. Cindy Peña, Assistant Curator of Latin American and Latino Art at MFAH, and Arden Decker, Associate Director of the International Center for Arts of the Americas at MFAH, share details of this special Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
