Amtrak & Shore Line East Trains in New London, CT during Sailfest 2019! w/ Lots of Horn Action
On July 13, 2019, I went down to New London to check out the yearly Sailfest by the Waterfront. I also went to catch the weekend afternoon rush of Amtrak and Shore Line East trains. I caught the usuals with SLE 3626 having CTDX 1701 as its cab car. 1701 has a Leslie RS2M and it’s the only cab car of CDOT’s fleet to have one while the others have K5LAs. CTDX 843 was the power while sporting a great sounding K5LA Hybrid. I also caught Regional 88 with ACS64 630s headlight cover open likely due to a loose screw. The Sailfest is a big event with Carnival Rides, Food, Boats, and fireworks during nighttime. Shore Line East also runs it’s “Fireworks Extra” which takes a large amount people home after seeing the fireworks. I unfortunately wasn’t able to catch it, but it was still a Great Day!
