[Instructor] Herve Palito Born in France, he studied dance at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de La Rochelle in western France, as well as piano for nine years and gymnastics for seven years. He began his professional dance career in 1985 with the Belgian company Ballet de la 20th Century, led by Maurice Béjart. In 1987, he moved to Switzerland's Béjart Ballet Lausanne, where he served as dancer and rehearsal director from 1991 to 1993, and as chief rehearsal director from 1993 to 1995. After leaving Belgium, he worked as assistant director and rehearsal director for Martin Puttke's Alto Ballet Theatre in Germany until 1997. He then served as rehearsal director for Victor Ullate's Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid in Spain. In 1998, he moved to Canada, where he served as rehearsal director and ballet master for Eduardo Rock's Lalala Human Steps until 2000. After working as a freelance guest instructor, he became rehearsal director and ballet master at Campania Nacional de Danza (CND) in Madrid, Spain, in 2002, where he served as artistic director in 2003 and artistic director from 2010 to 2011. Since leaving CND, he has worked as a freelance ballet instructor, rehearsal director, and artistic assistant with numerous dance companies, including the Lyon Opera Ballet (France), Cullberg Ballet (Sweden), Ballet de Monte-Carlo (Monaco), Staatstheater Neuberg (Germany), Béjart Ballet Lausanne (Switzerland), and Finnish National Opera (Finland). From 2017 to 2020, he served as assistant artistic director at the National Ballet of China. He teaches and directs the works of Nacho Duato and Maurice Béjart to companies around the world. He has taught Duato's works with the Bavarian State Ballet (Germany), Ballet Basil (Switzerland), the Royal Swedish Ballet (Sweden), and the Portuguese National Ballet (Portugal), and Béjart's works with the Paris Opera Ballet (France), the Berlin State Opera (Germany), Aterballet (Italy), Ballet du Lin (France), the Tokyo Ballet (Japan), the Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid (Spain), and the Stuttgart Ballet (Germany). He also taught Sylvie Guillem in the UK. From 1991 to 2011, Hervé also taught works by numerous choreographers, including Jiri Kylian, Alexander Ekman, John Cranko, Daniela Kurz, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, and Ohad Naharin. He has also given master classes and workshops in Korea, France, the United States, Spain, China, Uruguay, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, and Italy.
