Weskus Snoek at Noord Blinder - Kayak Fishing Adventure

Snoek gaan ons Snoek! Hitting the Blinders! Though, not your average day trip – this one is definitely for the books. Weskus being Weskus, we were greeted with a thick morning fog as we launched from Shelley Point, St Helena Bay. Some Safety Notes: With the fog forecast well in advance, safety was a top priority. We navigated using GPS marks for Noord Blinder, created waypoints at our launch site, used SafeTRX on our phones, and kept offline mobile maps with GPS enabled throughout the trip. Every precaution was taken to ensure a safe paddle offshore and back. Even my good old Temu headlight was working overtime on this one. The snoek were hungry, and it didn't take long before the reels started screaming. And jeeeez, those Weskus Bonnies are absolutely massive! After a successful day on the water, we made a quick stop at the harbour to clean the fish before heading home. A two-hour drive back to Durbanville doesn't leave much time to clean fish yourself. Stick around until the end as I run through the tackle setup that got the job done and finish the day off with a quick snoek braai. That jam and butter mix is deadly, and nothing beats a strong brandy and Coke after an epic trip like this. And excuse all the grunting while fighting these fish... snoek don't come aboard without a proper tug of war! 😅 00:00 Intro & Launch 03:00 Snoek Tyd 18:45 Shelly Point Beach 23:05 Harbour Cleaning 23:50 Tackle Talk 27:58 Snoek Braai Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Track Name.
