Fire Island Inlet and Great South Bay Dredge Projects

Launched the boat today 4/11/14 to start my season and I could not wait to check out what was going on with the dredging in the State Channel and Great South Bay, as well as the changes in Fire Island Inlet following the winter long dredge work done there. Fire Island boaters are going to have to pay attention in the area East of the Robert Moses bridge as the dredge pipeline runs right across the bay and leads to where the sand is being restored on the Robert Moses beach front. Fire Island inlet was a complete disappointment as the buoyed channel was a mess with breaking waves across the width of the channel on a day where the tide was up and the winds were down. It will be a real mess on low tide against a southwest breeze. Maybe Tonight Fishing Charters fishes the waters of Great South Bay and Fire Island Inlet on Long Island New York for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, fluke and other local species.
