East Contra Costa Fire Battles House Fire on Byron Highway

At 4:13 pm Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (a 3-station District covering 250 square miles) was dispatched to a report of a outbuilding on fire in the 10800 block of Byron Highway in unincorporated Brentwood. Upon arrival, Engine 59 out of Discovery Bay reported that the outbuilding was on fire and had extended to the home catching the home on fire. The fire then become well involved and defensive fire attack occurred given time and distance of resources. No injuries were reported and at least two people were displaced by the fire. The fire was knocked down by 5:30 pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office blocked off Byron Highway so crews could work the incident.
