“Coffee farming is passed down to us, and through great effort and hard work, it continues with us today, and it will continue to our children in the future." — Mesfin Dabesa, Limu Woreda, Jimma Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia Origin Story After studying agriculture and working for several years in Addis Ababa, Mesfin returned home with a clear vision: to expand and modernize the family farm. Together with his brothers and sisters, he set out to transform their father’s former land using modern, sustainable practices — honoring tradition while investing in the future of the farm and the community. The Dabesa family farm covers roughly 150 hectares and is fully organic. Its high elevation, soils, and forested setting all shape coffees that are especially vibrant — bright, pleasant sweetness with a lovely, balanced acidity. The family relies on natural fertility: they compost coffee pulp, leaves, and other organic matter to feed the trees, keeping the soil healthy and the farm resilient for generations to come.
