“Please Forgive Me” June 24 - August 23, 2026 Istanbul Art Museum / Golden Horn Shipyard The new exhibition “Please Forgive Me” at the Istanbul Art Museum, Istanbul’s first public contemporary art museum located in the Golden Horn Shipyard, has opened to visitors! Organized by IMM Heritage and IMM Culture, and with artist Ali Gün Yıldırım as project manager, the exhibition brings together contemporary works produced in different media by 64 artists to draw attention to and raise awareness about organ donation. “Please Forgive Me” can be visited free of charge every day except Monday between 10:00 and 19:00 until August 23. Imagine for a moment… Imagine that with a single decision you pulled eight people back from the brink of death, that you improved the quality of life for more than fifty people. Imagine a child being able to run again, a mother being able to hug her child, a young person being able to look to the future with hope. This is not a miracle; it's the silent but real power of organ donation. Today, approximately 33,000 people in Turkey are waiting for organ transplants to cling to life. Each one is waiting for a phone call, for a glimmer of hope, for a second chance at life. Sadly, this hope often doesn't materialize. In the last year, only 20.4% of the 2,351 people who suffered brain death had their families consent to organ donation. This means that 1,871 potential donors, along with the potential for life they carried, have been laid to rest. Located on the grounds of the Golden Horn Shipyard, the oldest shipyard still functioning in the world, the Istanbul Art Museum's new exhibition, "Please Donate Me," is a call born from the shared conscience of 64 artists. This meaningful exhibition aims to make the importance of organ donation visible through the transformative power of art, to make the silent waiting audible, and to make each of us reflect anew on this vital responsibility. The exhibition “Please Forgive Me” emphasizes that the most valuable legacy a person can leave behind is life itself. The “Please Forgive Me” exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Istanbul Art Museum every day except Monday, from 10:00 to 19:00, between June 24 and August 23, 2026.
