India and the US have long been working on a bilateral trade agreement aimed at facilitating trade and boosting commerce between the two nations. Recently, several rounds of talks took place between senior officials from both countries in New Delhi. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump discussed this issue during the G7 summit held in France. It is now believed that the negotiations have reached their final stage. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, significant discussions have taken place between the two countries in recent weeks, and work is proceeding rapidly to finalize the agreement. Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal has indicated that the framework for the agreement could be finalized during the meeting between Piyush Goyal and Jamieson Greer. In other words, if everything goes according to plan, India and the US could soon sign the first phase of this trade agreement. Piyush Goyal himself stated in early June that both nations are moving towards resolving outstanding issues and that the first phase of the agreement could be signed by the middle of the following month.
