Tech Tips: Performance Spray Gun Tips and Tricks

Brady Haislet, 3M Application Engineer, shows some good tips, tricks, and best practices for the 3M™ Performance Spray Gun. Important notes Always wear proper PPE: Safety glasses, protective gloves, respirator and anything else required for the job. This video is intended for a professional setting such as a body shop or paint shop. Make sure to check OEM recommendations for all adhesives to confirm you’re using the correct product for the job. Tip 1: Attach the atomizing head (00:42) Select the right tip size for the job and slide it over the needle, press it firmly into the frame, and rotate the locking collar. Tip 2: Connect the PPS™ 2.0 cup (00:59) Hold the gun upside down by the atomizing head, slide it onto the PPS lid opening, and do a quarter turn. Clean up overspray as shown. Tip 3: Adjust high fluid flow (01:53) Reduce the amount of fluid coming out by adjusting the fluid knob or using a different size atomizing head. Tip 4: Three main points of adjustment (02:14) How to adjust the fan knob, fluid knob, and air pressure. Please note: There are of course many factors and variables that can affect an individual repair, so the technician and repair facility need to evaluate each specific application and repair process, including relevant vehicle, part and OEM guidelines, and determine what is appropriate for that repair.
