HALF A METER! How do you drill it? How do you grind it? And yes, this is NOT segment turning, even though it looks like it. I got my hands on some Record Power fittings for making spice grinders. One set was 150 mm long, the other 470 mm. Naturally, I longed for the bigger one. I had to solve at least three problems: how to drill the grinder body for a nearly half-meter drive, how to bore the internal pockets for the hooks without special cutters, and how to create an interesting design resembling segment turning. Basically, all three problems are solved by sawing a large glued blank into links, each of which is drilled and machined with the necessary holes. The pseudo-segment turning problem was solved by rotating each link 22.5 degrees relative to the previous one during gluing. Oak, ash, birch, thermolinden, and thermoabash wood were used in the project. Coated with two coats of Borma countertop oil.
