Dust Storm Escape! Campervan Morocco 🇲🇦 Camels, Hot Springs, Flamingos & Amtoudi Gorge

Our time at Plage Blanche was cut short when strong winds whipped up the sand, creating dust storms, stinging eyes, and seriously poor air quality. With the weather turning against us, we packed up the vans and headed inland to the beautiful Palmerie of Tighmert, just outside Guelmim. From our cozy campsite, we explored the oasis by bike, riding through a huge camel herd to reach a hidden thermal oasis, where we couldn’t resist paddling our feet before cycling back through the palms 🌴🐪 After a couple of peaceful days, we continued south via Plage Tan-Tan to Khenifiss National Park, where we experienced one of the most memorable boat trips of our Morocco journey. The lagoon was bursting with wildlife — flamingos, ospreys, oyster catchers, curlews, and many more birds 🦩🦅 But Morocco had more weather drama in store. As dust storms and heavy rain rolled in, we turned north once again, battling van troubles and wild conditions on the road to Icht. Here, we took a fascinating guided tour of the underground village, offering a glimpse into traditional desert life. With a short weather window of warmer temperatures, we made a final push to Amtoudi, exploring its impressive agadir and walking through the majestic gorge — the perfect way to end this eventful stretch of our campervan adventure.
