Ismael’s Journey Begins: Planting the First Trees] Today marks a massive milestone for The Food Forest Namibia. We are officially starting "Ismael’s Journey"—a dedicated project to transform a dry township into a lush, productive food forest. Ismael has been an incredible part of our team, and seeing him take the lead on his mother’s yard (and beyond!) is what this channel is all about. In this video, we tackle the first and most important step: preparing the ground and planting the very first trees. In this video, you’ll see: The Vision: Why we’re focusing on this specific area and the impact we hope it has on the community. The Hard Work: Watch Ismael tackle the rocky soil to create "African Smiles" (our low-tech water harvesting structures). The First Saplings: We’re planting papayas, guavas, and lemons to create a sustainable food source for the future. Turning Problems into Profit: Using "bankrupt bush" and gathered mulch to breathe life back into the dirt. Perma-culture is a long game, and we might not see the full forest for years—but every journey starts with a single shovel in the ground.
