My daughter and I are traveling in a van from Western Norway to Northern Norway, all the way up above the Arctic Circle – during one of the most intense heatwaves Norway has ever experienced. Even at the Arctic Circle, temperatures climb to almost 30°C, where most of the year is just ice and snow! Almost 2 weeks on Crocs! In a film at the Arctic Center, we learn what climate change is really all about... The heat is causing moose, reindeer, and musk oxen to become rare, and the fishing is also only moderate. But as is often the case: the best moments often come unexpectedly. We land a surprise catch of large sea trout, see a completely unfazed moose cow from just 10 meters away, and enjoy breathtaking landscapes. We experienced Saltstraumen with its powerful tidal currents, admired the beauty of the Lofoten Islands – and we know: We'll be back. Maybe then we'll even catch halibut from the shore. Even though it wasn't the most spectacular trip in terms of wildlife or catches, this trip will remain in our memories forever.
