What is Vergil's Ultimate Goal? - Devil May Cry 3 Deep Character Analysis
In this video, I'm analyzing Vergil in Devil May Cry 3 from a narrative perspective, and trying to answer the question what is his goal after obtaining the Force Edge, what could he actually plan on doing with it. Special thanks and shout out to @CheebSparda and @nerothesky for having a chat with me about this topic and inspiring me to make this video~ the clip from the video: Narendra Modi: Prime Minister of India: • Narendra Modi: Prime Minister of India - P... One mistake I just realized: The portal would probably not remain open after Vergil obtained the sword, because all it takes to close it, is to separate the amulets again. So in a way, Vergil could still be a responsible adult and nicely close the portal to the demon world, after he obtained the Force Edge, so not just irresponsibly leaves it open. You can know this when Vergil points out: "The portal to the demon world is closing, Dante. Its because the amulets have been separated." So the accusations that Arkham and Dante makes against Vergil saying he would release the demons into the human world, could be false, cause Vergil is actually well aware that it is possible to close it again. Post-upload thoughts: I know his motivation for power mostly stems from the fear he experienced as a child, ( revealed not only in manga and novels, but also discussed in DMC 5 ) but in this video, I wanted to purely focus on what we can interpret purely from DMC 3, in order to keep things simple. So in conclusion to that, he could need the Force Edge, simply in order to be able to protect himself, or even others as well. As a personal interpretation, it seems like he was purely focusing on obtaining the Force Edge, and everything he does after that, is a consequence of not thinking straight anymore, as he is being emotionally unstable. In contrast to that, the more stable and calm Vergil we see at the end of dmc 5, is a result of going through a very deep spiritual healing journey during his time as V, when he finally has time to reflect on himself. However, I thought it was still a cool idea to think about what would he have done with the power, if he got the chance to use it, so I made this video~ For more videos like this, check out my DMC Lore video playlist: • Devil May Cry Story Explanation and Lore v...
