Developing Culturally Responsive Therapists: Role of Peer Relationships in Training and Supervision
EU webinar, held on May 11th, presented by Harold Chui. Abstract: Psychotherapy trainees’ learning experiences are shaped not only by instructors and supervisors but also by their peers. The intercultural dynamics that unfold in society and within the therapy room likely manifest in classrooms and supervision groups as well. In this webinar, I will highlight research on the role of peer relationships and group cultural humility in psychotherapy trainees’ development. Drawing on experiences as a student, trainer, or supervisor, participants will be invited to reflect on how peer relationships may be capitalised in different training contexts to promote trainees’ growth in cultural sensitivity and responsiveness.
