MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic immune-mediated neurological pathology in young adults, and is the leading cause of non-traumatic disability in this age group. Although its prevalence has been increasing in recent decades, this is especially significant for women, with a ratio estimated to be as high as 3:1 compared to men. Ninety percent of women present the first symptoms of the disease before age 50, and it is estimated that at least 20-30% will have children after diagnosis, with the peak incidence occurring in the third decade of life. These data, combined with the substantial increase in the therapeutic arsenal in recent years, as well as the direct implications of pregnancy and breastfeeding on the natural history of the disease, make MS a diagnosis of particular importance in women of reproductive age. HEADACHE Headache is perhaps, along with cognitive complaints, the most common reason for consultation in neurology, being especially relevant in the young population and therefore in women of reproductive age. Migraine, ranking first in terms of frequency, is the primary clinical judgment, being one of the main causes of disability and sick leave in young adults. This is why the headache-pregnancy combination can be found relatively frequently in consultations across both clinical disciplines, and it can sometimes pose a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge due to the direct implications for the proper development of the pregnancy. This chapter aims to outline the main guidelines to follow in consultations, with our objective being to understand how the different headaches behave during pregnancy in order to correctly guide the possibility of a secondary headache. as well as optimizing their pharmacological management at a particularly sensitive time. EPLEPSY Epilepsy is a relatively common condition in our setting. The WHO estimates its prevalence at approximately 1% worldwide, with a total of approximately 50 million people affected. In Spain, the number is estimated at around 400,000 patients, of whom approximately 63,000 are women of childbearing age, with a prevalence among pregnant women reaching 0.3-0.7% in 2013.
