Ist der Kapitalismus am Ende? | 13 Fragen
Social inequality, discrimination, exploitation – the accusations leveled against our current social and economic order, capitalism, are numerous. Entire social media accounts are filled with anti-capitalist memes. Demands for an end to the social market economy, as it is currently structured in Germany, are no longer confined to the far left. Proponents of capitalism, on the other hand, insist on hard-won prosperity and the fundamental freedom of the system, which finances our welfare state through tax revenue. But would abolishing capitalism even be realistic? Or is it the only viable system for our society? And how could we reform it? Opponents and proponents of capitalism discuss these questions in #13Questions. CORRECTION: Dear community, at 10:28 there is an error in the wording of the fact check regarding the definition of "Pareto efficiency." A state is "Pareto efficient" when there is no way to improve the situation of individual A without simultaneously worsening the situation of individual B. While other forms of redistribution might improve the situation for individual A, they would always result in individual B being worse off. And then we would no longer be talking about a "Pareto-efficient state." Apologies for the error and many thanks to the attentive viewer!
