The Ants You See Are NOT Your Problem — Here's What an Amish Grandmother Knew
If you have ants marching across your kitchen this summer, the ones you see are not the problem — the hidden nest and the queen are. In this video, Eli, an Amish househkeeper from Lancaster County, shows the old $3 way to wipe out the whole ant colony without an exterminator, a monthly contract, or poison sprayed near your family's food. You'll learn why spraying makes it worse, the prep work that makes the bait work, and the exact recipe passed down for generations. The sweet bait: 1 cup (240 ml) warm water + 3 tablespoons sugar + 1 tablespoon borax. Soak cotton balls, set them in jar lids on the trail. Greasy bait: 2 tablespoons peanut butter + 1/2 teaspoon borax. The trick is a LITTLE borax so the ant carries it home to the nest.Safety: borax is not candy — wear gloves, keep it up high, and place bait only where children and pets cannot reach. If you can't place it safely, use food-grade diatomaceous earth instead. Carpenter ants and fire ants are different and covered at the end.Tell me in the comments where your ant trail comes in and whether they wanted something sweet or greasy — I read every one.
