"I appeal to everyone: there is no point in standing in line at... gas stations tomorrow," he noted late Wednesday evening, adding that existing fuel coupons would be cancelled and new ones would be issued on Thursday. Razvozhaev later reported that more than two dozen Ukrainian drones were shot down in the early hours of Thursday during a new attack on Sevastopol, the peninsula's second-largest city and the home of Russia's Black Sea Fleet. It is noted that the fuel shortage in the city arose when Ukraine intensified its campaign of drone strikes and medium- and long-range missiles against Russian industrial facilities, which forced Russia to cut oil production in the world's third-largest producer. "In recent months, we have been particularly grateful for the medium-range strikes: Russian military logistics throughout the entire depth of the temporarily occupied territory are now within range of Ukrainian drones," Zelenskyy said in his evening address. Russia may attempt to find alternate routes for supplies to the temporarily occupied peninsula amid intensifying Ukrainian attacks. However, the capacity of these routes will be significantly less than that of the so-called "Novorossiya" highway, along which the Defense Forces are intensifying their attacks. This opinion was expressed by military observer Denis Popovich on Radio NV . He noted that the Russian Federation specifically expanded the so-called "Novorossiya" highway in order to increase its capacity and improve the quality of its coverage. "We know the Russians have been working on this. Bypass routes—they have worse coverage, they're longer, and they have less capacity. Plus, those same bypass routes will also be monitored by Ukrainian drones. So, this isn't a cure for the disease; the Russians won't benefit from it," Popovich said. He added that, amid the ongoing logistics crisis in Crimea, fuel shortages have been a persistent problem. As a result, Russians are increasingly using the Crimean Bridge to travel to the Krasnodar Krai to buy fuel. "In the Krasnodar Krai, fuel is cheaper than in Crimea. And queues are already forming in the Krasnodar Krai. Restrictions are also being introduced in the Krasnodar Krai. This fuel shortage in Crimea is leading people to stockpile essentials: cereals, sugar, oil, flour, etc. And quotas are already being imposed on these products in Crimea," Popovich added. The expert added that the fuel crisis in Crimea is also leading to food shortages. The next stage will be problems with the energy sector, which also depends on fuel supplies. "Therefore, all of this is developing into major problems for temporarily occupied Crimea. And what we're now hearing about attempts to restrict train traffic at night is also a response. But trains can be attacked during the day, too, so none of this stops the ongoing process," Popovich noted.
