Mardin’de bayramda oteller doldu, turistler çevre illere yönlendirildi

Mardin experienced a surge in tourist numbers during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Hotels, with a capacity of approximately 23,000 beds, reached 100% occupancy, and some tourists who couldn't find accommodation stayed in neighboring provinces. Mardin, a city where people of different religions, languages, and cultures live together in brotherhood and tolerance, and which attracts attention with its historical and registered structures, was a popular choice for tourists during the Eid al-Adha holiday. The city, which gained popularity thanks to the TV series "Uzak Şehir" (Distant City) airing every Monday on Kanal D, resembles an open-air museum with its mosques, madrasas, churches, narrow streets, and houses built with intricately carved stones. Hotels with a capacity of approximately 23,000 beds reached 100% occupancy, and those who couldn't find accommodation had to stay in neighboring provinces. Visitors explored numerous historical sites, including the historical streets and avenues, Cumhuriyet Square, the Mardin Museum, the Kasımiye Madrasa, and the Deyrulzafaran Monastery, and took souvenir photos. The high occupancy rate pleased both the tourism sector and local businesses. 'SERIES FILMED IN MARDIN ARE BEING BROADCAST WITH DUBBING THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST' Özgür Azad Gürgör, Vice President of the Mesopotamia Travel Agencies and Tourism Hoteliers Association and President of the Mardin Tourism and Hoteliers Association, stated that hotel occupancy rates have reached 100%, saying, “As we stated in our pre-holiday statements, we are experiencing a very serious surge in demand. Believe me, we are currently at 100% occupancy. To avoid inconveniencing guests who arrive in our city without reservations, we are trying to accommodate them in nearby provinces. We have guests not only from Türkiye but also from Europe, the Far East, and China. Before the holiday, we consulted with agencies from Russia. Every group that comes sees and feels a part of themselves here. The efforts for a Turkey free from terrorism have made a significant contribution. The series filmed here have made a significant contribution to promotion. Currently, series filmed in Mardin are being broadcast with dubbing throughout the Middle East.” Mardin is currently attracting significant attention from countries like Egypt, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia. In that respect, we, as tourism professionals, are very happy. Because the city we live in, with its culture, gastronomy, and history, is one of the provinces we call the capital of Southeastern Turkey, the tourism capital. Because it is one of the rare cities where a church and a mosque stand side-by-side. In that sense, we are sharing Mardin's culture, art, gastronomy, and civilization with the whole world, and we are very happy about that,” he said. ‘I AM THINKING OF COMING AGAIN’ Güner Ceynarova, who came from Azerbaijan to spend the holiday in the historical city, said, “We came from Azerbaijan for a holiday. Everything is very beautiful; the food and culture are wonderful. I recommend everyone to definitely come to Mardin. This is my first time in Mardin. I am thinking of coming again with the rest of my family.” Zeki İçlek, who came to Mardin from Adana, said, “I didn’t expect Mardin to be this beautiful. It has developed so much. Mardin is as beautiful as Istanbul. We have friends who haven’t come yet, and they are curious. We strongly recommend it to them. As they say, ‘Eid is beautiful in Mardin,’ and it’s exactly like that. Hopefully, we will continue to visit even more beautiful places and historical sites.” ‘HIGH DEMAND FOR ALMOND CANDY AND MORTAR-BAKED COFFEE’ Mehmet Şah Hazar, a shopkeeper who stated that they experienced a surge in visitors during the Eid holiday, said: “We are hosting our guests very well. We invite everyone to Mardin and to see this region. Our guests especially buy the most important products of this region: almond candy, mortar-baked coffee, and Mardin’s local walnut sausage.” I invite everyone to taste the local flavors of this place and wish them a happy holiday.
