Too Many Antiques - Villereal - EP114 One of the questions I often ask myself is what gets us out of bed so early on a Sunday morning. And honestly, it's not just the antiques. It's the thrill of the hunt. The possibility that somewhere amongst hundreds of stalls and thousands of forgotten objects, there might be that one special piece waiting to be discovered. And perhaps even more importantly, the story behind it. If you've watched us for a while, you'll know one of the first questions we ask is: "Where did you find it?" Because sometimes the story behind a piece is every bit as interesting as the piece itself. Who owned it? Where did it come from? How did it end up here? After all, who doesn't love a good story? Now, we didn't find much that was actually on our list. And that's probably a good thing. Because if there's one thing we've learned since moving to France, it's that you need a list. Otherwise, you'll spend your life buying beautiful things for projects that may never happen! In fact, I have an entire room filled with treasures that I purchased before we even moved here. Pieces I absolutely loved at the time. But as our château has evolved, so have our ideas and our rooms And while I still try to find a home for those forgotten treasures, I suspect some of them may eventually find a new home with someone else. Because that's the wonderful thing about antiques. We're only really their caretakers for a little while.
