The Leyland National B Series
Hello 👋🏻 I thought I'd slip this little video in today. Whatever you think of the Leyland National, it was a very successful bus. And highly standardised too. The National Bus Company always used to use lightweight buses such as the Bristol LH for the more rural and less intense bus routes. However, the Bristol LH was a very dated design with manual gearbox, narrow entrance and fairly steep steps. What was needed was a bus that was a little bit more modern and maybe more standardised. This came when Leyland launched the B series Leyland National - a lightweight version of their standard bus. Here then is the story of Leyland's baby National, the B series.
