Attymon Junction - May 1986

May 1986 - four months after Westrail vacated Attymon and a few weeks after CIE announced their intention to abandon the Loughrea branch the video camera returns to Attymon for one last time. On 9 April 1986, published the following Take notice that the board of Coras Iompair Eireann intends to make an Abandonment Order in respect of the Attymon Junction/Loughrea Railway Line from its junction point with the Galway/Dublin Railway Line at Attymon Junction station to its terminus at Loughrea Station both in the County of Galway. It was not long before the branch was lifted, becoming yet another memory preserved only in photographs, films and in the recollections of those who had known it.
