I Thought God Owed Me… Until I Learned Who He Really Is

Have you ever felt like God owed you an answer? Maybe you've prayed faithfully, served in church, and tried to live for Him, yet your prayers seem unanswered. Maybe you've asked, "God, why me?" I know that feeling because I've been there. In this Faith Talk, I'm sharing one of the most personal lessons God has ever taught me. There was a season when I was angry with God. I lost both of my parents and my brother. My husband and I struggled financially, collecting cans just to buy food. We faced unemployment, homelessness, constant setbacks, and the challenges of raising a child with Down syndrome. I honestly believed that after everything I had been through, God owed me something. But I was wrong. Everything changed when I stopped focusing on what I thought God owed me and started discovering who He truly is. This isn't a message of condemnation—it's an invitation to know the heart of God. Together, we'll explore what the Bible says about grace, mercy, suffering, contentment, and God's unchanging character. We'll look at the lives of Job and the ten lepers, and we'll be reminded that every breath we take is evidence of God's mercy. We'll also pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are facing persecution for their faith and remind ourselves not to take for granted the freedom we have to follow Jesus. If you've been struggling with unanswered prayers, disappointment, comparison, or wondering where God is in your pain, I pray this message encourages your heart and points you back to Christ. Remember this: God doesn't owe us anything... yet through Jesus, He has given us everything we could never deserve.
