Woburn Sands Level Crossing, Buckinghamshire

Dates filmed: Monday the 27th of October 2025 / Wednesday the 11th of February 2026 Route: Marston Vale Line Woburn Sands (WOB) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: A5130 Newport Road, Woburn Sands (MK17 8SG) Featuring: ‪@ElectraLevelCrossings‬ One of the line's busiest level crossings, located in Woburn Sands just outside of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Despite the very high levels of road traffic here, the halogen / incandescent wigwags and lights still remained fully operational here up to the start of 2026, making it (at the time) one of nine remaining on this line but just fifteen nationwide. However, this is no longer the case as LED wigwags were installed within just a few weeks of the date of my second visit. Also, despite the high levels of usage and traffic noise the alarms here are far too quiet, even with a slightly louder new alarm being fitted between the dates of filming. You can also note, in the second lowering of two featured, that the flasher relays had a funny moment with the red light sequence. In the fourth lowering, a motorist disregards the 'keep clear' markings and almost has the nearside barrier land on their car!
