How To Be A Dominant OH1 | 12% Better at Volleyball

Cooper Robinson, one of the premier volleyball athletes from the United States Men's Volleyball program. After a successfull career at UCLA, he takes his talents to the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to represent the U.S. and go up against the top international competitors in the world. This weekend I went to AAU Nationals in Orlando, recruiting for Marymount University. As I walked around from court to court looking for quality players for our program. This video idea came to my mind after seeing so many special players stand out. Not always, but typically, the OH1 is the most physical player on the team, and jumps out on the court to the opponents, fans, and of course, college coaches on the recruiting trail. That realization, combined with a weekend in Hoffman Estates watching Cooper Robinson get his chest above the net on a routine basis motivated me to put together this video. Here are some of the main keys I focus on: 1. Strong Serve (ideally 65mph+) 2. Physical Attacking a. Easy against 1on1s b. Routine against 2 blocks c. Challenges 3 blocks 3. Efficient in RO1 on the RS 4. Crush the BIC If you can do these things, congratulations, you are most likely the OH1 on your team. I always preach passing and serve receive as a way to find yourself on the court. But let's say for this video sake you already feel comfortable with that part of your game and you want to see how you can get more court time. Here are some elements to master to make sure you stand out to coaches and recruiters. It's been super fun to watch USA Volleyball during the VNL, and highlight reel players like Cooper Robinson. I look forward to the day when I can film for that team and really make some exciting breakdown videos on this channel. Let me know in the comments what How to Videos you want to see next!
