Wildfires: Evacuation Update and Being Prepared to Go

Multiple wildfires continue to burn in the Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Northern Minnesota. According to the Superior National Forest, extreme fire conditions occurred across the entire forest area on Monday, and officials say the fires saw wind-growth. There are 17 active wildfires, with 3 inside the BWCAW, according to the Superior National Forest As of Tuesday, July 14 at 2PM the Bear Trap Fire in the BWCA has burned approx. 12,896 acres. The Camp Fire, located 5 miles north of Winton has grown to 2,200 acres. A Red Flag Warning with extreme heat is still in place Tuesday. Officials say firefighters will use full suppression strategy where conditions allow. Smoke columns can be seen from nearby communities.
